Middle-earth: Work in Progress

Today I am still busy painting the Nazgûl of Dol Guldur. One particular wraith I really want to get right is The Witch-King of Angmar, Sauron’s deadliest and highest ranking servant.

As you can see below I’ve tried something different with my wraiths, instead of giving these weapons a  that makes them look like they belong in the realm of living. So I opted for something a tad bit Warhammerish: A basecoat of Celesta Grey, a few layers of thinned down shades (a blue shade and a red shade and the technical oxide paint) and to finish a highlight of Celesta Grey mixed with a bit of White Scar. Although he is not finished yet I do believe he will look amazing!

The Witch-King of Angmar

And it does look a bit different indeed, not the usual Nazgûl of Dol Guldur look but it really fits the way I see them. The bodies are really a lot more spectral/material but their blades and weapons are completely part of the spirit realm.

I think it makes these ringwraiths stand out on the battlefield. These weapons make them easy to spot and, even though it might be a little bit unusual, I really really love it.

I thoroughly enjoy painting these miniatures and can’t wait adding more Nazgûl of Dol Guldur to my collection. Even Sauron, the Necromancer of Dol Guldur, will join this spirit filled ghost party sometime this year!

But it doesn’t end with three pictures about a wraith, no…

…The Fellowship

A month ago, or two, I posted some miniatures of my Fellowship of the Ring. Well, as I didn’t really seem to like the pictures I shared I decided to make some new and better ones, and even if I didn’t share my Fellowship now would be the perfect time!

Aragorn, Isildur’s Heir.

Legolas Greenleaf & Gimli, son of Glóin.

Frodo Baggins.

And last but not least: Boromir, a Knight of the White Tower.

I hope you all liked this little work in progress/showcase post! I’m planning to add more updates, and even though the schedule says otherwise upload more work in progress posts whenever I feel like it!

Let me know your thoughts in the comments and be alert for Sunday’s first weekly D&D related post!

See ya!
